Troubleshooting (Pests, Yellow Leaves, etc.)

🪴 Welcome to the Plantlanta Troubleshooting Corner

Even the best plant parents hit a rough patch. Whether your leaves are yellowing, your soil’s funky, or some tiny invader is throwing shade — we’ve got your back.

🌕 Yellow Leaves? Here's What It Means

Yellowing leaves are your plant’s way of crying for help.
Common causes:

  • Overwatering (yep, it’s a thing)

  • Lack of light

  • Nutrient deficiency

  • Natural aging (for lower leaves)

Fix it: Adjust your watering schedule, move to brighter indirect light, and check for root rot or compacted soil.

🐛 Dealing with Pests: Fungus Gnats, Spider Mites & Aphids

They may be tiny, but they’re rude.
If you see webbing, sticky leaves, or tiny bugs flying around — here’s how to handle it naturally:

  • Neem oil spray

  • Sticky traps

  • Wipe leaves with diluted soap solution

  • Isolate the plant (pest jail is real)

💧 Root Rot, Mushy Soil, or Foul Smells?

If your plant’s roots are dark and mushy, it’s probably root rot caused by overwatering or poor drainage.

How to Save It:

  1. Remove the plant from its pot

  2. Trim dead roots

  3. Repot in fresh, well-draining soil

  4. Take a breath — it happens to the best of us

💀 Is My Plant Dead… or Just Dramatic?

Wilted leaves and dry stems don’t always mean it’s over.
Scratch the stem — if it’s green underneath, your plant still has hope.
